Organic Olive Oil - Once referred to as “liquid gold” by Homer, Olive Oil has been used as a beauty and skin care remedy by the Phoenicians, Greeks, Egyptians and Romans. Today, it’s still prized for everything from erasing stretch marks and minimizing wrinkles to anti-aging therapy and deep hydration. One reason Olive Oil is so effective is that it’s rich in antioxidants, such as Vitamins A and E, polyphenols, phytoserols and the rare compound, Hydroxytyrosol, all of which help repair skin and neutralize the free radicals that cause skin damage. These antioxidants have a natural ability to stimulate cells and bring skin back to a firmer, healthier state.
Organic Palm Oil - Palm oil is an edible vegetable oil derived from the mesocarp (reddish pulp) of the fruit of the oil palms, primarily the African oil palm. It is naturally reddish because of a high beta-carotene (Vitamin A) content. Palm oil is actually 15 times richer in Vitamin A than a carrot! Beta-Carotene (or Vitamin A) is a carotenoid, which is found in foods like carrots, tomatoes, and pumpkins. Carotenoids are well known for fighting the damage done to your skin due to UV ray exposure. This makes palm oil a wonderful ingredient that helps not only to prevent damage from sunburn, but to stop premature aging as well.Palm oil contains a high concentration of Vitamin E. This particular vitamin is very special because it contains tocotrienols. Tocotrienols are antioxidants within the Vitamin E family and are much rarer and much stronger than the common form of Vitamin E known as tocopherols. Tocotrienols are more effective in protecting the skin, for they are able to penetrate much deeper into the bottom most layers of your skin. Adding palm oil into any natural soap results in the soap having a pleasant lather with nice medium bubbles. Palm oil increases the hardness of the bar and helps it last longer.
Organic Shea Butter - A skin superfood that comes from the seeds of the fruit of the Shea (Karite) tree and that is naturally rich in vitamins A, E and F. It offers UV protection and provides the skin with essential fatty acids and the nutrients necessary for collagen production. Shea butter has been used in Africa and other countries for years to improve skin and hair. The concentration of natural vitamins and fatty acids in Shea butter makes it incredibly nourishing and moisturizing for skin. It is often used to remedy dry skin and to help protect the skin’s natural oils. Due to its cinnamic acid and other natural properties, shea butter has anti-inflammatory benefits. One compound in particular, lupeol cinnamate, has been found to reduce skin inflammation and even potentially help avoid skin mutations. This also makes it beneficial for some people with acne. Shea butter aids in the skin’s natural collagen production and contains oleic, stearic, palmitic and linolenic acids that protect and nourish the skin to prevent drying. With long term use, many people report skin softening and strengthening as well as wrinkle reduction.
Organic Castor Oil - This pale-colored oil extracted from castor beans in highly therapeutic. In soap it acts as an emollient, humectant, and softener, adds and retains moisture and protects the skin. It is also used to treat dry, lacerated, and chapped skin, including psoriasis. It makes a soft, conditioning bar with bubbly, stable lather. Castor oil contains ricinoleic acid, which delivers anti-inflammatory benefits to the skin.
We carefully select luxury oils, herbs, botanicals, spices, and extracts to give each formula it’s own unique therapeutic skin and aromatherapy benefits. We hand grind our herbs, botanicals, and spices the old fashioned way using a mortar and pestle to ensure that their medicinal qualities are preserved.
Neem Oil - Neem oil is loaded with nutrients. It is extremely beneficial for eczema prone skin and will benefit people who suffer from psoriasis and acne. Its astringent properties help to cure minor cuts and wounds. It also contains carotenoids which provide high antioxidants that defend the skin against age promoting free radicals. Neem oil is high in essential fatty acids and Vitamins. It gets easily absorbed by the skin and rejuvenates it and improves its elasticity. Neem oil is ideal for acne prone skin because it clears up pimples and removes bacteria that cause break outs. Neem oil contains aspirin like compound which removes the acne causing bacteria from the skin. It also helps to reduce redness and inflammation. The high fatty acid content in neem oil prevents and treats scar that occurs because of acne and is non comedogenic.
Calendula Petals - Dried calendula petals are a great addition to soap because they maintain their color imparting an orange color to the soap. The petals are antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and immune stimulating. These properties are useful for treating various types of dermatitis such as eczema.
Much of the healing properties of calendula are because of its high levels of carotenoids (vitamin A like compounds). Because these compounds are oil soluble, an infused oil is a good way to go. Calendula also contains oil soluble sterols that help plump the skin and keep it thick.
Colloidal Oatmeal - Colloidal Oatmeal is generally used in the bath as an additive to bath water, which moisturizes dry and problem skin, especially that of eczemic skin in children. This Colloidal Oatmeal is GMO-free and consists of key active ingredients such as beta glucan, which acts as a natural, deep penetrating moisturizer and avenanthramides, natural antihistamines that reduce skin irritations and itching.
Goats Milk - Goat's milk soap delays signs of skin again due to its high content of alpha-hydroxy acids such as lactic acid. Alpha-hydroxy acids break down dead skin cell bonds, removing dead skin cells from the skin's surface and leaving behind new cells on the surface that appear smoother and more youthful. Goat's milk reduces skin inflammation due to its fat molecule content. The cream present in goat's milk is a moisturizer, soothing dry and damaged skin, possessing an anti-inflammatory effect. Goat's milk is packed full of essential nutrients and vitamins like vitamin D, C, B1, B6, B12, and E, that feed the skin and are absorbed into the body. Studies now show that goat's milk is effective for treating acne and skin conditions. This is primarily because goat's milk has anti-bacterial properties that delay the growth of microbial organisms that spur the spread of acne.
Kaolin Clay - Kaolin clay is used as skin detoxifying and cleansing agent. The clay contains high content of silica that helps in removing the dead skin and makes it to regenerate. This also purifies and detoxes the skin and makes it moist. In addition, it has unique minerals and phyto-nutrients present, which helps in eliminating toxin and oil from the skin.
Lavender Flowers - Lavender is great for the skin. Some of its skin benefits include that of being antiseptic and anti-fungal which helps to reduce scarring and speeds healing.
Rose Buds - Rose Buds have healing and nourishing qualities and act as a gentle astringent. They contain anti-oxidants that can fight free radicals, skin irritants, excess sebum, and germs. Great for dry, stressed and dehydrated skin.
Zinc Oxide - Zinc Oxide offers several important health benefits for the skin. Zinc oxide is effective for healing the skin. It can be used to heal wounds, reduce the tenderness associated with sunburns and soften chapped skin. It is sometimes used as an acne treatment -- it is believed to reduce the appearance of blemishes and reduce skin irritation and inflammation, reducing the number and severity of acne breakouts. As well as all it’s other talents, zinc is also a natural astringent. That means it tightens tissues and absorbs excess oil—another reason zinc is so good as an anti-acne treatment. It helps tighten pores and prevent the buildup of sebum, reducing the formation of blackheads and pimples. Zinc is a natural anti-inflammatory, which means that it can help tame inflammation.
Chamomile Essential Oil - Chamomile is antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. It is also considered to be hypoallergenic with the ability to neutralise skin irritants. Can treat cracked, acneic, eczema, inflammation, sensitive skin, and rosacea.
Lavender Essential Oil - Can heal skin irritations. Can also cleanse cuts and scrapes.
